ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday the selection of Southern Vermont College freshman Maddie Gibney (Albany, N.Y.) as the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the period ending October 14, 2018.

The league honor is the second for the Mountaineer after she previously garnered it on October 1.

Gibney continued to build momentum on the offensive side of the ball last week as she scored three goals through SVC's two games. She had a pair on Wednesday in the Mountaineers' NECC win over Mitchell College, and the freshman then converted a penalty kick on Saturday for her fourth score of the year—helping Southern Vermont tie the match at 1-1 late in the first half of a hard-fought showdown at Elms College.

Gibney and the Mountaineers are back in action on Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. league match at home against Becker College.
