BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College freshman Taylor Mallett (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the period ending September 11, 2016 as announced by the league on Monday.

Mallet had a great week for Southern Vermont, scoring both game winners as the Mountaineers went 2-1 to start the season at 3-1 for the first time since 2012. She notched two goals and an assist in a close 4-2 home win over Rivier University last Monday, and she then followed with another pair of scores in a 6-0 SVC victory over Green Mountain College on Thursday.

The rookie is currently tied for fourth in the NECC for goals (5) and is also fourth for the most points (12) in the league.

Mallett and the Mountaineers are back at it on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home game against Morrisville State College, the team’s final non-conference match before starting NECC action on Saturday.
