Madore Tabbed NECC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt. – After breaking a pair of career program records, Southern Vermont College sophomore captain Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending October 16, 2016.

Madore had an historic week, breaking the Southern Vermont all-time scoring record to help the Mountaineers go 1-1 in league action. She tallied both goals of a 2-0 win over Mitchell College on Wednesday, and the captain then helped the SVC defense keep Elms College out of the net during regular play on Saturday before EC won on an overtime penalty kick.

Madore's first goal against Mitchell tied SVC's all-time scoring record, and she then became the program's career leader in goals (28) and points (66) as she added an insurance tally while helping to keep the Mariners off the board. The sophomore was later interviewed on 101.3 ESPN Burlington/Plattsburgh to discuss her feat. That interview can be heard here: http://www.1013espn.com/svc-sophomore-sets-program-scoring-record-audio/.

This is Madore's first career Player of the Week laurel and the second for a Mountaineer this season as classmate Ally McNamee (Freehold, N.J.) picked it up on September 26.

Madore and SVC are back in action Tuesday afternoon when they host Becker College for a 3 p.m. Conference contest.
