Biggers Collects Second NECC Rookie of the Week Honor

BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second time in three weeks, Southern Vermont College freshman Danielle Biggers (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday for the period ending October 23, 2016.

Biggers was a huge factor in Southern Vermont going 1-0-1 in league action last week, scoring a pair of pivotal goals against teams sitting in the top half of the Conference standings. She knocked home the first goal of a 4-2 win versus Becker College on Tuesday, and the freshman then notched an equalizer in the 70th minute at Regis College on Saturday for a goal that helped SVC tie RC in a crucial NECC matchup.

The Mountaineer freshman now has seven goals on the year to rank third on the team and 13th in the league. She was also named the Conference's Rookie of the Week on October 10; this is the third league honor for SVC rookies as fellow freshman Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) picked up the accolade back on September 12.

Biggers and the Mountaineers conclude the regular season this Wednesday with a 3 p.m. NECC home game against Bay Path University, a match that will help determine SVC's seeding in the upcoming playoff tournament.
