BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending October 9, 2016 with Southern Vermont College freshman Danielle Biggers (Bronx, N.Y.) being selected as the league’s Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Biggers played a huge part in Southern Vermont taking its only game last week, scoring two goals at Wheelock College including what proved to be the game winner on Saturday. She tallied four points, now having five scores on the year while notching her first collegiate game-winning goal in the 10th minute.

Monday’s accolade is the first in Biggers’ career and the second Rookie of the Week honor for SVC as fellow freshman Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) received the award on September 12.

Biggers and the Mountaineers turn to a pair of league contests this week, the first of those being a Wednesday home match against Mitchell College (3 p.m.).
