Vitale Named NECC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southern Vermont College sophomore Paige Vitale (Greenville, N.Y.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the period ending October 4, 2015 as announced by the league on Monday.

Vitale registered her first collegiate goal on Saturday during SVC's only game of the week, a timely strike that helped extend the match at Newbury College. The sophomore rookie scored with just 2:03 left in regulation to tie the game at 4-4, giving the Mountaineers the chance needed to win the NECC contest 5-4 in double overtime.

This is the second time a Southern Vermont player has picked up the honor this season after freshman Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) was named the NECC Rookie of the Week back on September 14.

Vitale and the Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Green Mountain College for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference matchup.
