BENNINGTON, Vt. — The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly awards for the period ending October 25, 2015 with Southern Vermont College freshman Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) taking claim of the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week honor.
Madore made a huge impact in the Mountaineers' 2-0 week, helping them win a pair of games against teams that entered the contest with a winning league record. She scored her 13th goal of the year in the 35th minute at Becker on Tuesday for her second game winner of the season before providing solid ball control through the midfield in the team's first ever win over Regis on Saturday. Her goal total now ranks fifth on the all-time SVC single season record list and puts her at second in the Conference for goals and points scored.
Monday's recognition is the second NECC accolade for Madore as she was named the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week back on September 14.
The Southern Vermont freshman was joined in helping SVC sweep the league's women's soccer laurels by sophomore keeper Melissa Mascari (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who was tabbed the NECC Player of the Week with her pair of posted shutouts.
Madore, Mascari and the Mountaineers have two Conference contests this week as they wrap up the regular season and try to maintain their high league standing.
