BENNINGTON, Vt. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has announced the Team Academic Award winners for the 2012-13 school year with the Southern Vermont College women’s squad earning the honor for the second consecutive year.
A total of 875 NCAA soccer teams from all divisions (275 men, 600 women) were bestowed with the accolade which is given to teams that have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the given school year. 192 schools had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
Southern Vermont, under the direction of second-year head coach Michael Zauzig in 2012, finished the 2012-13 school period with a 3.23 team grade point average. Zauzig commented, “The team understands the meaning of being a student-athlete and working hard to excel on and off the field. I am proud of them and look forward to concluding another successful year this spring.”
