Forant Named NECC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second consecutive week, a Southern Vermont College women's soccer player has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, this time seeing senior Kaitlyn Forant (Hardwick, Vt.) garner the accolade for the week ending September 29, 2013.

Forant helped the Mountaineers to a 2-0 week, scoring both game-winners in the process.  She notched four goals, including both game-winners for the Mountaineers, in just 90 minutes of play due to academic responsibilities. She tallied the only goal in a 1-0 victory at SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday, playing only the second half, and then recorded a first half hat-trick in a 7-0 NECC win against Daniel Webster College on Saturday during SVC's Homecoming Weekend.

This is the second NECC weekly award for the Mountaineers who saw sophomore keeper Katie Raymond (Bristol, Conn.) received the Player of the Week award last week.

Forant and the Mountaineers return to action this week with an NECC matchup at Newbury College on Saturday at 12 p.m.
