Women's Soccer Falls in 2OT at SUNY Morrisville 1-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – After 104 minutes of scoreless soccer, the SUNY Morrisville women's team was able to put one in the goal to defeat Southern Vermont College 1-0 in double overtime Wednesday night at Drake Field.

Mustang freshman Bailey Rutan (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) notched her first collegiate goal as she chipped a ball from junior Krista Baxter (Downsville, N.Y.) over the head of SVC sophomore keeper Katie Raymond (Bristol, Conn.) for the game-winner in the second extra session.

Mustang freshman keeper Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) posted eight saves en route to her first collegiate win and shutout as she moves to 1-2 on the season. Raymond is now 0-3 in net despite stopping nine Morrisville shots.

The Mountaineers (0-3) return to action next Wednesday, September 11, when they visit The Sage Colleges for a 7 p.m. contest. Morrisville (1-2) takes to the road for a Saturday match at Wells College with the game slated to start at 2 p.m. to open North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
