Women's Soccer Loses at Juniata 8-0 in Season-Opener

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A staunch Juniata College defense was able to help keep the Southern Vermont College women's soccer team off the scoreboard Friday afternoon as the Eagles took the match by an 8-0 margin in the first regular season contest of the year for both teams.

Seven Eagles notched a goal including sophomore Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, N.Y.) who tallied her first two of the 2013 campaign. Senior Paula Pryor (Westbrookville, N.Y.) and sophomore Michaela Lacek (New Tripoli, Pa.) each had a goal and an assist.

Juniata freshman goalkeeper Erin Mueller (Bedford, Pa.) grabs her first win of the season (1-0) after posting a scoreless first half, and Southern Vermont sophomore Katie Raymond (Bristol, Conn.) takes the loss (0-1) despite recording 18 saves.

The Mountaineers (0-1) continue the road trip with a Sunday 1 p.m. match at Penn State-Altoona while Juniata (1-0) turns to its Saturday 3 p.m. contest at Thiel College.
