BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College junior rookie Kaitlyn Forant (Hardwick, Vt.) has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 28.  This is the third week of the 2012 season in which she has received the conference award.

                On Wednesday in a 5-0 win over visiting Bay Path College, Forant scored four goals to surpass the previous SVC record holders for the most goals in a single season.  With another goal in a 5-1 win at Wheelock, she now has 19 on the season; Rebecca Hopeck (1996) and Beth Sampson (1995) each had 15.

                Forant also added three assists in the victory over Wheelock, bringing her to four on the season for a total of 42 points.

                The junior striker and the Mountaineers are tentatively scheduled to travel to Becker College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. NECC quarterfinal match.  SVC lost its regular season meeting against Becker, 2-0, back on October 13 at Southern Vermont.
