ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the third time this season, Southern Vermont College junior Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week with the league announcing on Monday that she was chosen to receive the honor for the period ending December 17, 2017.
Main, who is garnering her second-straight Rookie of the Week honor, almost averaged a double-double last week as she notched 11.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in Southern Vermont's two contests. She had 11 rebounds, three steals, and a pair of blocks against Becker College on Tuesday, and the junior rookie followed that with 16 points and eight boards against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday.
With SVC's fall semester schedule in the books, Main currently ranks fourth in the NECC with 15.3 points per game—that mark being the highest among league rookies.
Main and the Mountaineers will return to action after their winter break on Thursday, January 4 with a 1 p.m. home game against Mount Ida College.
