BENNINGTON, Vt. - On Monday, the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its weekly award winners with Southern Vermont College junior captain Amber Flagg (Windsor, Connecticut) garnering the Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolade.
Flagg helped the Mountaineers start 2-0 in the NECC for the first time since the 2011-12 season, scoring a team-best 26 points in a win over Bay Path on Tuesday and then dropping 15 in SVC's first-ever win over Becker on Thursday. The junior captain averaged 17.0 points on 40 percent shooting from the floor. She also tallied 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.3 steals per game across her last three contests. This is the first career Player of the Week award for Flagg after she was named the NECC Rookie of the Week four times during her 2012-13 freshman season.
Flagg and the SVC women's squad visit New England College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start in their last game before the finals and holiday break.
