BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference announced Monday the league awards for the week ending Dec. 15, 2013 with Southern Vermont College sophomore forward Sarah McDonald (Cohoes, N.Y.) being selected as the Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Subsequently, McDonald was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference's New England Co-Player of the Week along with Anna Maria College's Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.).
McDonald had a major impact on the Mountaineers' 57-54 win over SUNY at Morrisville on Friday night, recording career and game-highs of 25 points and 16 rebounds, her first double-double of the season. 14 of her boards were on the defensive glass while shooting 60.0 percent (12-of-20) from the floor. She also dished out two assists and had a steal in the victory.
The sophomore and her team are off through the winter break, finishing their non-conference schedule with a 1 p.m. tip at Mass. College of Liberal Arts on Saturday, Jan. 4.
