BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the fourth week in the 2012-13 season, Southern Vermont College freshman captain Amber Flagg (Windsor, Conn.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Flagg averaged 20.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in three games for the Mountaineers last week including a 27-point performance in a loss to Elms College. The freshman captain scored 22 against Becker College and 13 in a loss to league-leading Regis College.

In 13 conference games this season, the guard has averaged 17.8 points and shot 35.6 percent from the field. Overall on the season, Flagg has scored 17.2 points per game, good enough to rank third in the NECC.

Flagg and the Mountaineers continue league play with an 8 p.m. game at Bay Path College on Tuesday.
