Mountaineers Fall to Newbury on Final Day
February 18, 2012In need of a win to make the playoffs, the Southern Vermont College Women's basketball team dropped in season finale to Newbury College, 76-36, Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Kendra Bannister (Washington, D.C.) led four Nighthawks in double figures registering her third double-double of the season, netting 14 points while ripping down 11 boards en route to the victory. -

February 09, 2012HOLYOKE, Mass.- Despite holding the lead for the first twenty seven minutes of play, the tireless efforts of the Mountaineers senior guard Joa Claircius (Clermont, Fla.) was not enough as the Mountaineers allowed a second half comeback. January 21, 2012CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Senior guard Joa Claircius (Clermont, FL) poured in a game-high 29 points to lead the Southern Vermont College women's basketball team over host Wheelock College this afternoon, 77-69, in a New England Collegiate Conference contest at Brunelli Court on the campus of Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Mountaineers improve to 5-10 overall and 4-4 in NECC play, while the Wildcats fall to 0-15 and 0-9.

January 19, 2012Bennington, VT – The Regis Pride remained unbeaten in NECC play as they were able to sweep past the Southern Vermont Mountaineers by a score of 81-48 on Thursday evening. With the win, Regis improves to 11-3 on the season and 8-0 in the NECC. Southern Vermont drops to 4-10 on the season and 3-4 in NECC action.

Veliz Not Enough As Mountaineers Fall to Hawks
January 17, 2012LEICESTER, MA- Ashliy Veliz scored 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Southern Vermont College Women’s Basketball team fell 70-61 on the road at Becker College in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup. It was the third time Veliz has recorded a double-double this season and the second time in the last three games.

It was the first time the Mountaineers traveled to a conference foe this season, and for the first time in NECC play SVC fell 76-73 at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

The Trailblazers used the strong start en route to a 76-50 victory over the Mountaineers. MCLA snapped a four game slide in the process, evening their record at 6-6 and SVC dropped to 3-6.

As division III college basketball kicked off around the Mountaineers fell 79-65 in the Iorio Gymnasium at SUNY Cobleskill.
