Women’s Basketball Upsets Lesley, 59-57

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont Women's Basketball upset first place Lesley University for the first time in Coach Quinn's tenure. Joa Claircius also scored her 1,000th point on the evening. Claircius tallied 31 points in the contest bringing her career total to 1,025.  

SVC and Lesley traded leads from one half to the next. The Lynx won the first half 29-27 while the Mountaineers won the second half 32-28. SVC shot 36.7% from the floor while Lesley shot 35.0%. The Mountaineers forced 20 turnovers while only having 14 turnovers.

Leading the way for the Lynx was Kaitlyn Wechlser with 22 points. Rachael O'Mara had 20 points and Brianne Caira tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Caira was held to zero points in the second half of play.

SVC's, Abby Riedel had 14 points in the contest.

Claircius became the second Women's Basketball player to score more than 1,000 points in her career.

The Mountaineers return to action at Elms College on February 8th. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
