Nashua, N.H. – Senior forward Alyssa Regan notched 16 points including 12 in the second half and junior forward Alycia Gervais added her fifth double double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as the Daniel Webster women's basketball team posted an 80-55 victory over Southern Vermont College in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup Tuesday night at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium.
Junior Vanessa Bosques added 15 points while junior Sarah Paternostro added 12 points and a game-high five assists as the Eagles (9-2, 2-0 NECC) completed a home-and-home sweep of the Mountaineers (2-9, 0-4 NECC) after winning in Bennington, Vt. this past Saturday.
Joa Claircius led Southern Vermont with 16 points and three steals while Kourtney Hewitt chipped in with 10 points and a team-best eight boards.
The Eagles surpassed both the 2009-10 and 1997-98 clubs, which had won seven straight, and are now sporting their best record after 11 games in program history.
DWC trailed only once on a Christie Henry jumper to open the game and held a three-point lead (14-11) after a Dayna Carpenter three-point play 7:08 into the first.
Bosques buried the first of three from downtown 44 seconds later sparking a quick 8-0 run and a 22-11 lead and the Eagles closed the first half with a 10-2 run for a 37-21 edge at the break.
Six quick points from Claircius helped SVC pull to within 41-29 over the opening minute and a half of the second, but another Bosques trey from dead center, back-to-back layups from Regan, and a trifecta from Gervais pushed the lead out to 19 (53-34) with 14:38 left.
DWC would hold SVC two points over a six-minute stretch that built the lead up to as many as 32 with 10-minutes left and SVC would pull no closer than 25 down the stretch.
