SVC Women's Basketball Falls in OT to Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Southern Vermont College women's basketball team fell in overtime to the Medgar Evers College Cougars in the Medgar Evers Tourney Championship Sunday night 86-73. Junior guard Rita Hall led the Mountaineers with 20 points and junior guard Alyssa Davis was one point shy with 19 points as she notched five triples.

SVC was up 33-26 after the first half but the Cougars managed to break through the Mountaineer defense to score 42 in the second half to send the game into OT. Freshman forward Kourtney Hewitt played well in the paint as she tallied 14 points and grabbed seven boards for SVC. Junior forward Tasha Smith rounded out the box for the Mountaineers as she finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars were led by Jaide Lewis who had a game-high 24 points.

Hall was named to the All-Tournament team as she averaged 15 points on the weekend.

The Mountaineers are heading to Wheelock College for an NECC game Tuesday night at 5:15 p.m.
