BENNINGTON, Vt. – On the eve following Southern Vermont's first win of the season the Mountaineers took a crushing defeat to non-conference rivals, Curry College 89-53. Southern Vermont now drops to 1-1 while the Colonels improve 2-0. The Mountaineers could not find the basket only shooting 27.4%, while the Colonels shot an excellent 55.4%.
The Colonels started the game on a 23-3 run with 14:15 left in the first half. The lead was insurmountable for the Mountaineers staying at least 14 points behind the Colonels for the remainder of the game.
Senior, Cortney Robinson led Curry with 17 points, while Freshman Ashley Assarian and Sophomore Julia Scrubb each contributed 16 points for the Colonels. Curry also out-rebounded the Mountaineers 46-32.
Juniors, Joa Claircius and Rita Hall led the Mountaineers respectively with 15 and 13 points. Senior, Tish Hall contributed seven rebounds for Southern Vermont. The Mountaineers are off until Tuesday, November 30th when it hosts New England College at 6:00 p.m.
