BENNINGTON, Vt. - Despite 19 points from freshman phenomenon Joa Claircius and 12 points, all treys, from fellow newcomer Kristen Cummings the Mountaineers trailed the Trailblazers the entire game to fall 86-45 at the SVC Field House Tuesday night.
The Southern Vermont women's basketball team (2-6) was down from the start trailing 13-4 in the first five minutes and 39-19 at the break.
Freshman guard Alyssa Davis scored 7 points as well for SVC. While sophomores Tiarra Hall, 5 points, and Kiara Bates, 2 points, rounded out the offense side for Southern Vermont.
MCLA was led by Larissa Miner, 24 points, who got a lot of help from Chelsey Burke who finished the night with 9 assists. The win improves the Trailblazers to 8-3 on the year.
The Mountaineers are at home against New England Collegiate Conference foe Wheelock College (0-8) Saturday, January 10. The tip-off is at 4:00 p.m.
