Emily Fleming Selected as NECC Softball Player of the Week

BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second time in her career, Southern Vermont College’s Emily Fleming (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday for the week ending April 20, 2014.

Fleming had an outstanding week for the Mountaineers, carrying a .692 batting average and slugging 1.692 with the help of four home runs in four games. The junior totaled 10 RBIs and scored six times, adding a double in the process. She was perfect in the field, committing no errors on 22 total chances. The right-hander also picked up a win from the circle over the weekend, giving up no runs on just five hits and no walks against Wheelock College.

SVC and Fleming return to the diamond with four NECC doubleheaders this week to conclude the regular season and determine playoff berths and seeding.
