BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont was handed two losses against Castleton in five innings, 22-0. The Mountaineers only had two hits on the day, falling to 0-12 on the season.

Katelyn Boyd and Heather Kilventon had the only hits for SVC. In game one, Boyd pitched all five innings for the Mountaineers allowing 22 runs on 20 hits. In game two, Miranda Ryan pitched four innings allowing 17 runs on 13 hits. Kilventon came in and pitched relief for the Mountaineers allowing five runs on four hits. Ryan and Kilventon made their season debuts on the mound for SVC.

The Spartans combined for 37 hits in both games.

SVC returns to action tomorrow when it opens NECC play. The Mountaineers face Mitchell College at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
