BENNINGTON, Vt. – The softball team opened up at Willow Field this afternoon losing both games against Green Mountain College. In the first game the Mountaineers fell 14-7 and in game two SVC was defeated 14-3 in five innings.
Katelyn Boyd went the distance in both games for the Mountaineers giving up 28 runs on the day. GMC was able to accumulate 29 hits off Boyd. Lazar went the distance for Green Mountain in game one only allowing 7 runs while Lord pitched game two giving up three runs.
Leading the way offensively for the Mountaineers was Alyssa Davis going 5-6 with a homerun, triple and two RBI's on the day. Boyd also performed well at the plate going 4-7 with four RBI's. Sara Simonetti, Tiarra Hall and Miranda Ryan all had two hits in the first game. Tanjot Dhaliwal also picked up her first collegiate hit.
GMC was led by Paul going 7-8 with two RBI's and six runs scored.
SVC returns to action on Thursday, March 31st at home against Sage College. The first pitch of game one will be thrown at 3:30 p.m.
