COCOA, Fla. – The Southern Vermont College softball team was defeated by the Mercy College Mavericks of Ferry, N.Y. 18-1 Wednesday, March 10, at Chain of Lakes Park. The Mountaineers had a 1-1 ball game after one and a half innings of play, but an eight run second for the Mavericks, a Division II squad, gave it enough momentum for the victory.
The loss gives Southern Vermont a 0-3 record, while Mercy improves to 4-3. Freshman Tallon Barron and sophomore captain Alyssa Davis each had a hit for SVC. Junior Kim Curry went 3-for-4 to lead the Mavericks.
