NECC Honors Brandmeyer as Runner of the Week Once Again

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its second batch of weekly award winners with Southern Vermont College junior Marc Brandmeyer (Bennington, Vt.) being picked as the league's Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending September 11, 2016.

Brandmeyer placed second overall for the second-straight week on Saturday, finishing first for Southern Vermont at the Castleton State Invitational. He crossed the line with a mark of 28:02, running a split of 5:39 per mile. The captain's placement helped the Mountaineers win the Invitational, grabbing their second victory in as many weeks of the young season. This is his second-consecutive Runner of the Week honor from the NECC and the fourth in his collegiate career.

Southern Vermont swept the NECC Men's Cross Country weekly honors once again freshman Bailey Hamilton (Londonderry, N.H.) was selected as the NECC Rookie of the Week on Monday, also for the second-straight time. Hamilton had another tremendous outing for SVC at the Castleton Invitational on Saturday, placing sixth overall and third for the Mountaineers in his first collegiate 8k race. He crossed the line with a time of 29:27 for a split mark of 5:56 per mile to help SVC win the meet.

Southern Vermont won on Saturday with a tremendous team score of 24 points. The Mountaineers go for their third in-a-row this upcoming Saturday at the Johnson State Invitational, start time of that race slated for 11:15 a.m.
