Men’s Cross Country Concludes Season at NCAA DIII New England Regional

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 2016 Southern Vermont College men's cross country team's season came to a close Saturday as six Mountaineers ran in a tough field at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Qualifier.

SVC came off of winning its third-straight New England Collegiate Conference title last Saturday to chalk up a number of solid times in the challenging meet at Stanley Park that included 384 participants.

Junior captain Marc Brandmeyer (Bennington, Vt.) came through first for the Mountaineers, taking 30 seconds off his time from a week ago for a season-best 26:26 on the 8000 meter course. Sophomore Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass.) shaved 23 seconds off of his mark from last week's race, putting up a 27:11 at the Regional to be second for SVC.

Southern Vermont freshman Davante Smith (Ellenville, N.Y.) was third for the team at 28:16, coming just 17 seconds off of his personal-best time. Senior captain Corey Barcomb (Burlington, Vt.) was next for the Mountaineers, capping his collegiate cross country career with a 29:08.

SVC freshman Bailey Hamilton (Londonderry, N.H.) rounded out the team's scoring placements with a 31:43, and senior Aden Fischer (Arlington, Vt.) followed at 33:13 to conclude his collegiate cross country career in his first NCAA Regional showing.
