BENNINGTON, Vt. — The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its honors on Monday for the week ending September 13, 2015 with Southern Vermont College freshman Noah Froh (Milwaukee, Wis.) taking claim to the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week laurel.
Froh, a student at Bennington College, competed in his first collegiate 8,000 meter race on Saturday. He placed eighth overall at the Castleton University Invitational to join a pair of teammates in the top 10 and help SVC win the meet title as a team. He came through the finish line at 29:43, posting a split time of 5:59 per mile. He is the first ever Bennington College student to receive a conference honor in any sport as a Mountaineer.
Teammate Justin Ferguson (Broadalbin, N.Y.) was also named the NECC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for SVC to sweep the sport's honors, and fellow Southern Vermont runner Shelby Whitman (Bennington, Vt.) picked up her first NECC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week as well.
Froh and the Southern Vermont squad now set their sights on this Saturday's Johnson State College Invitational, race time slated for 11:15 a.m.
