BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southern Vermont College freshman runner Noah Froh (Milwaukee, Wis.) added a regional accolade to his young collegiate resume on Wednesday as the Bennington College student was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the period ending September 13, 2015.
Froh had an impressive week for the Mountaineers as he placed in the top 10 of his first collegiate 8k on Saturday, finishing eighth at the Castleton Invitational. The freshman crossed the line with a time of 29:43, splitting at 5:59 per mile to help Southern Vermont win the meet. He was the first Bennington student to ever receive a collegiate conference accolade in the second year of SVC’s consortium with BC when he was named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The regional honor is the second for a Mountaineer in as many days after freshman Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) was selected as the ECAC DIII New England Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
The Southern Vermont cross country team returns to action this Saturday, September 19 at the Johnson State Invitational.
