BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the third time of the 2014 season, Southern Vermont College sophomore Justin Ferguson (Broadalbin, New York) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, this time for the period ending September 28, 2014.

Ferguson was second across the line for the Mountaineers in the 8000 meter race at Saturday's Williams College Purple Valley Classic. He finished with a time of 28:20, helping his team to place 13th in a tough field of 21 quality squads. The rookie followed senior teammate Herson Canta (Lagunitas, California) who was first for SVC at 28:01.

Ferguson has now collected three of the four weekly rookie honors given out by the conference this year after also being awarded on September 8 and 15.

The sophomore and the Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday when they head to New Hampshire for the Keene State College Invitational set to start at 11:45 a.m.
