BENNINGTON, Vt. – Monday morning, the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its weekly fall awards for the period ending October 19, 2014 with Southern Vermont College sophomore Justin Ferguson (Broadalbin, New York) being named the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

Ferguson ran extremely well at Saturday's Western New England University Golden Bear Invite, crossing second for Southern Vermont and seventh overall with a time of 27:08. His placement on the 8000 meter course was instrumental in the Mountaineer's tying for second place overall as a team. The sophomore has now collected the NECC rookie honor four times this year.

Ferguson and the Mountaineers are off this weekend, allowing the team to recover and prepare for the NECC Championship, set to take place next Saturday, November 1 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
