BENNINGTON, Vt. - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its weekly awards Monday for the period ending September 7, 2014 with Southern Vermont College senior Herson Canta (Lagunitas, California) garnering the NECC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week laurel.

Canta placed third overall at the Castleton State Invitational Sunday, helping his team to a second place team finish. His time of 26:36 was 1:16 faster than his previous personal best, putting him at second all-time for an SVC runner.

Canta and the Mountaineers gear up to host the Mountaineer Invitational on Saturday on the SVC campus, meet time scheduled for 12 p.m.
