Marc Brandmeyer Adds NECC Runner, Rookie of the Week Laurels

BENNINGTON, Vt. – After being honored with a few awards over the weekend, Southern Vermont College men's cross country freshman Marc Brandmeyer (Bennington, Vermont) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Runner of the Week for the period ending November 2, 2014 as announced by the league on Monday.

Brandmeyer picks up his first NECC Runner of the Week award after winning the NECC Championship on Saturday, finishing the 8000 meter Stanley Park course in a personal-best time of 26:29. He is also the NECC Rookie of the Week, taking that honor for the second time this season. Brandmeyer's finish was good enough to move him up to second on the all-time SVC record list and made way for him to be the 2014 NECC Runner and Rookie of the Year. The freshman gained an All-NECC First Team placement with his top-five result, being one of seven Mountaineers to make an all-conference team.

Brandmeyer and the Mountaineers now turn to this Saturday's Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship back at Stanley Park.
