BENNINGTON, Vt. - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its weekly awards on Monday with Southern Vermont College freshman Marc Brandmeyer (Bennington, Vermont) taking claim of the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week laurel for the period ending October 5, 2014.

Brandmeyer was second across the line for SVC at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, coming through in 15th with a time of 27:51. That showing was two seconds faster than his previous best and provided valuable points for the team. This marks the fourth time a Mountaineer has taken the NECC Rookie of the Week laurel this season with sophomore Justin Ferguson (Broadalbin, New York) having collected the award three times this year.

No Mountaineers will be receiving any conference recognition next week as the two teams take this weekend off to recover and prepare for the Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational taking place next Saturday, October 18.
