BENNINGTON, Vt. – Continuing his tremendous success in the 2013 men's cross country season, Southern Vermont College junior Herson Canta (Eagle Rock, Calif.) has been honored as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Runner of the Week for the week ending October 20, 2013.
This marks the fourth time this season that Canta has been named as such.
The junior ran his way to a 21st-place finish at a very competitive Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational in Springfield, Mass. on Saturday with a time of 27:59.78. That was just seven seconds shy of his personal best time.
Canta and the Mountaineers now focus on completing their training for the NECC Championship being hosted by Bay Path College this Saturday at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. The team finished second at the Championship a year ago.
