GORHAM, Maine – The Southern Vermont College men's cross country team competed hard at the NCAA Regional Championship Saturday afternoon, and two Mountaineers raced to a placement on the all-time SVC record list.
Southern Vermont was led by junior Herson Canta (Eagle Rock, Calif.), finishing at 28:18.16. He was followed by freshman Corey Barcomb (Burlington, Vt.) who crossed with the eighth-best time in SVC history at 28:51.69. Junior Hesbon Ogeka (Windom, Minn.) cracked the top ten list with a 29:08.79 showing, a minute and ten seconds faster than his previous best.
Junior captain Victor Velazquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) was fourth for the Mountaineers, finishing with time of 29:25.54, and sophomore Cameron Curtiss (Milton, Vt.) rounded out the team at 29:35.08, 18 seconds faster than the best of his career.
Williams College won the team trophy, placing the top two and three runners who trailed Connecticut College senior Michael LeDuc (Canton, Conn.), the race champion who posted a time of 24:21.03. Middlebury College and Mass. Institute of Technology placed second and third, respectively, in the team ranking.
