BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second time this season, Southern Vermont College junior Herson Canta (Eagle Rock, Calif.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Runner of the Week, this time for the week ending September 29, 2013.
Canta finished first for the Mountaineers, 9th overall, at the Vermont State Championship at Castleton State College on Saturday. He crossed the line with a time of 27:52, good enough to place himself at fourth on the SVC all-time record list and help Southern Vermont to a fifth-place team finish.
The junior and his squad now prepare for the Keene Invitational at Keene State College on Saturday with the race slated to start at 11:45 a.m.
