BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its weekly spring awards Monday, and Southern Vermont College men’s volleyball senior Anthony Ayala (Pico Rivera, Calif.) was honored as the Player of the Week for the week ending March 16, 2014.

Ayala assisted on 34 of the 36 Mountaineer kills in a 3-0 win over Newbury in the Mountaineers' lone match of the week, finishing the season sweep. The senior setter added two digs and a service ace while upping his average to 9.13 assists per set for the season.

The senior and SVC, now 5-2 in the conference, are off until next Monday, March 24 when the team visits Daniel Webster College for a tough NECC contest.
