Men’s Volleyball Splits on Dig Pink Day

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Mountaineers lost its first match in five sets to Daniel Webster but then turn around and swept Regis in three sets. In the middle match of the day, Daniel Webster defeated Regis 3-1. The Mountaineers improve to 3-13, the Eagles improve to 6-7 and the Pride falls to 0-13.

In the first match of the day Daniel Webster came from being down 2-0 to take three sets in a row from SVC. The Eagles won 23-25, 23-25, 25-9, 25-13 and 15-7. Daniel Webster hit .464, .385 and .700 from the floor in the last three sets.

Leading the way for the Eages was Joe Walz with a game high 28 kills and 22 digs. Kyle Clement also had 47 assists while Chris Shannon had 21 digs.

The Mountaineers were led by Anthony Barahona with 20 kills and 18 digs. Anthony Ayala had 42 assists while Nick Haggerty tallied 15 digs.

 In the middle match, Daniel Webster defeated Regis 25-15, 23-25, 25-8, and 25-14. Walz had 13 kills and 12 digs. Clement added 16 assists and Shannon totaled 14 digs.
 In the last match of the day the team became the most victorious Men's Volleyball team in SVC program history. The Mountaineers defeated Regis 25-16, 25-13 and 25-15.

"This is an exciting moment in the history of Men's Volleyball," said Coach Stokes. "One step further with success."

Barahona led the team with 10 kills. Ayala had 22 assists and Murray had nine digs for SVC.
