WESTON, Mass. – The Southern Vermont College men's volleyball team won its first match of the 2011 season and the first under new Head Coach Joshua Stokes as it cruised past the Pride of Regis College 3-1 Saturday. The Mountaineers were led by freshman Anthony Barahona who hit a whopping .538 (16 kills, two errors, 26 attempts) on the attack.
SVC improves to 1-1 overall, while the Pride falls to 0-2.
Junior middle Connor Murray notched eight kills, two solo blocks, and seven digs for SVC. The Mountaineers dominated the net as it tallied a total of 10 blocks in the match.
Setters Anthony Ayala and Neel Patel finished with 18 and 11 assists respectively.
The Mountaineers are hosting MIT Friday, January 28th, at 7:00 p.m. in the MAC.
