NASHUA, N.H. - Jullian Amaral's (New Bedford, Mass. / New Bedford HS) posted a strong performance for the Mountaineers with 25 total digs but it wasn't enough to find the win column as they fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology 30-6, 30-26, 30-19 and Daniel Webster College 30-12, 30-21, 30-8 in a NEVCA (North East Collegiate Volleyball Association) tri-match Saturday afternoon.
Chris Shannon notched a match high 10 kills and added three service aces and four digs guiding the Daniel Webster College men's volleyball team past Southern Vermont College 3-0, earning a tri-match split in NECVA action Saturday.
The Eagles (1-1, 1-1 NECVA) registered the first victory for the program since 1998.
Sean Rogers added four kills while Ian Catenzaro notched three.
Amaral led Southern Vermont (0-3, 0-3 NECVA) with 15 digs, while John Callagan (Troy, N.Y. / Averill Park HS) notched three aces.
In the day's middle game, Wentworth swept Southern Vermont, 3-0. Amaral led the SVC with 10 digs, while Aaron Eschler (Gloversville, N.Y. / Broadalbin-Perth HS) notched six kills and Ricky Harrington (North Adams, Mass. / Drury HS) added five.
Southern Vermont has a few days rest when they hit the road Tuesday, February 3, to face NECVA foe Endicott College. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
