Men's Soccer Topped 6-1 at Pine Manor in Non-conference Play

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Southern Vermont College men's soccer team lost 6-1 on the road Monday afternoon, falling at Pine Manor College in non-conference action.

Southern Vermont freshman Mahat Abdullahi (Burlington, Vt.) notched his second goal of the season in the closing half, but it would not be enough as the Gators were able to keep SVC out of the net for the remainder of the contest.

The Mountaineers turn to another non-conference game this week, hosting Green Mountain College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Both teams had 14 total shots in the match with Pine Manor (7-2) holding a 9-8 edge in shots on goal over SVC (0-8). Abdullahi had four attempts on the day, all being on the PMC frame.

The Gators put up two in the first half, taking a lead that would prove to be good enough for the victory. PMC added another pair after the break before Abdullahi struck on a play developed by seniors Matthew Snow (Barnstable, Mass.) and James Tschinkel (Freehold, N.Y.) in the 66th minute. Pine Manor tacked on two insurance goals in the late going to take the second all-time meeting between the two teams.
