CASTLETON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont men's soccer team (0-3-0) suffered a 7-1 loss at Castleton State College (3-0-0) Wednesday night.

Castleton went on the board early with a goal from freshman midfielder Danny Favreau (Arlington, Vt.) in the fifth minute.  He added another in the 28th to put the Spartans up 2-0 for the remainder of the first half.

Castleton continued to press after the break, getting goals from four different Spartans before SVC's junior striker Derek Snow (Centerville, Mass.) scored his first of the season to put the Mountaineers on the board.  Castleton added another in the last minute of play with a 20-yard strike off the foot of Zac Conlogue (Sr. / Farmington, Maine), his second of the game.

Ball possession did not come easy for SVC, as Castleton was able to control and get in shooting positions, totaling 30 for the game.  Mountaineer freshman keeper Christopher Dunham (Valley Falls, N.Y.) had eight saves and allowed five goals in just over 69 minutes of play.  Sophomore Brendan Shea (North Providence, R.I.) had two saves in his first action of the season.  The Mountaineers gave up 10 corner kicks while only having one.

The Mountaineers take back to the pitch at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to New England College.  The Spartans will next visit SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
