BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southern Vermont College men's basketball freshman Daemond Carter (Forestville, Maryland) has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Sunday.

This marks the third time this season that Carter has picked up the laurel. SVC Men's Basketball swept the weekly conference awards as junior DeShawn Hamlet (Hartford, Connecticut) was honored as the NECC Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Carter was efficient off the Mountaineer bench last week, averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game while grabbing three steals and three rebounds in the two SVC league matchups.

Southern Vermont is on the road for its next game, visiting Becker College on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. conference tip-off. A win will lock up the right to host the NECC semifinal and championship rounds in the postseason tournament.
