Southern Vermont MBB Extends Winning Streak to Six with 71-67 Win Over Wheelock Wildcats

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College men's basketball team won its sixth game in a row with a 71-67 New England Collegiate Conference win over the visiting Wildcats of Wheelock College Saturday in the MAC. The Mountaineers were led by junior forward Ben Naaktgeboren who finished with a stellar double-double notching 21 points and 15 rebounds. He also had three assists, blocks, and steals in the victory.

SVC led at the half 31-28 but only shot 37.9% from the field. In the second half the Mountaineers shot 55.6% from the field and cruised past the Wildcats.

Junior guard Taeshon Johnson also contributed 21 points for the Mountaineers and he also pulled down eight boards. Rounding out the box for SVC was Lance Spratling and Derrick Cenicola who each tallied 11 points.

Guard Daniel Main led the Wildcats with 19 points.
The Mountaineers are back in action with it hosts NECC foe the Becker College Hawks on Tuesday, January 25th, at 6:00 p.m. in the MAC.
