BENNINGTON, Vt. - Southern Vermont College Men's Basketball presents its 2009 Summer Basketball Camps to be conducted Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14. There will be two camp sessions: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for boys entering grades 7-9, and 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. for boys entering grades 10-12 with a fee of only $100 for the week.
The camp will be conducted by Southern Vermont College Head Men's Basketball Coach Michael McDonough, Assistant Coach and Camp Director David Bromirski, and Head Athletic Trainer Mark Sutherlin, along with current, former and guest collegiate players, including SVC grad Nick Harrington of the German Professional League, SVC senior captain Joe Karnik, College of St. Rose guard Shea Bromirski and Dan Bisaccio of Clarkson University.
Registration will be limited in each session to maximize individual participation and instruction. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt and a personalized evaluation.
The morning Fundamentals Camp for those entering grades 7-9 will focus on the offensive and defensive fundamentals of basketball through drills, individual instruction and team play. The session is intended for players with basic knowledge of the game seeking to advance their skill level, and to advanced players looking to build on basic skills.
The afternoon Preseason Camp for those entering grades 10-12 will introduce campers to a collegiate practice environment focusing on preseason development of individual and team skills through drills, individual instruction and team competition, and will include instructional sessions on fitness training, nutrition and college preparation. The session is intended for players preparing for sub-varsity and varsity participation.
All camp sessions will be conducted in the Southern Vermont College Field House with locker room, weight training and athletic training facilities. The Field House is located on the SVC campus on the slopes of Mt. Anthony overlooking Bennington, Vermont. Southern Vermont is an NCAA Division III basketball program, and a member of the New England Collegiate Conference and the ECAC.
