MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its award winners for the period ending March 24, 2019 with senior right-hander Joe Braim (Saratoga, N.Y.) being tabbed the Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Braim had three great outings for SVC last week as he put up a 2-0 record from the hill. The righty posted an ERA of 2.16 for the week while totaling 12 strikeouts through 16.2 innings of work. On Monday in Florida, the senior gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a pair of walks; he struck out six Edgewood College batters through six innings on the bump to garner the victory.
After striking out four in a no decision against Gallaudet University on Thursday, Braim came back to allow two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk in a Saturday win at Wells College. That victory moved him into a tie for second on Southern Vermont's all-time wins list with 10.
Along with Braim, SVC was represented in collecting Conference accolades on Monday by fellow senior Ryan Serrato (Whittier, Calif.) who took home his second Baseball Player of the Week award.
Braim, Serrato, and the Mountaineers are next in action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when they start their NECC schedule with doubleheader at the New England Baseball Complex against Newbury College.
