Baseball Drops 10-3 Decision to Pitt-Bradford

TUCSON, AZ- The Southern Vermont College baseball team fell in its fifth straight game to start the 2012 season Sunday. The Mountaineers lost 10-3 against Pitt-Bradford in Tucson, Arizona at the Kino Sports Plex.

Leadoff hitter Jarod Hayen set the pace for the Mountaineers with a 2-4 performance. Cody LaBadia also went 2-4 for SVC with an RBI and a stolen base. Junior captain Dillon Desiderato continued his hot hitting with a 2-5 performance. Outfielders, Pat Warrington and Sal Sciara contributed the other two hits in the defeat.

On the mound, Joel DeFedele gave the Mountaineers a much needed tremendous outing. DeFedele went 6 2/3 and only allowed three earned runs. The captain challenged hitters the entire game only allowing one free pass. Connor Murray then came on and worked an inning and a third not allowing an earned run. Rich Napolitano gave SVC an inning in the ninth, surrendering one unearned run on two hits.

SVC will look for its first win in 2012 Monday when they take on Southwest Minnesota State and Presentation in a split double header.
