BENNINGTON, Vt.- The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) announced the 2011 Division III All-New England Teams today which featured 52 athletes from across the region. Among those 52 athletes was SVC’s junior outfielder Pat Warrington, who earned third team honors.
Warrington made his mark throughout the 2011 season cracking, an SVC record, 62 hits earning him a .388 batting average. The centerfielder started all 40 games for the Mountaineers as he scored 44 runs and drove in 43 RBI’s. Warrington was also a major part of SVC’s running game as he stole 28 bases in the 2011 campaign.
“Pat is very deserving of such a great honor and I am proud of him for getting named 3rd team All-New England” said Head Coach Don Schaffer. “Pat had an outstanding season for us, leading us in many crucial offensive categories including batting average, RBI’s, extra base hits and stolen bases. Pat also had a strong year defensively playing a great center field and getting to many balls that a lot of players wouldn’t.”
Warrington was also a major component in helping SVC make its’ first ever conference championship game. The junior batted .365 in NECC games and had 16 RBI’s with 18 runs scored. He also drove in the tying run in the 6th inning of the NECC Championship game before the Mountaineers fell 3-2.
“It is an honor to be named to the NEIBA All-New England team. This shows how hard work in the off-season pays off. I hope this award and our finish as a team this season will get SVC’s name out to future recruits. We plan to be a serious contender next season in conference and against non conference opponents” said Warrington.
Throughout his three seasons in a SVC uniform Warrington has already had a major impact in re-writing the All-Time Record book. Warrington is SVC’s all time career leader in batting average, hits, home runs, and RBI’s.
